The Fig Tree Restaurant and Bar
Dryslwyn Fawr, LLanarthne, Carmarthen, SA32 8JQ
The charming Fig Tree is a family-run restaurant and wine bar situated in the courtyard of a Grade II listed model farm on the Cawdor estate, by the River Towy and Dryslwyn Castle. The interior is beautifully contemporary and minimalist, making visits there a real treat to the senses as well as the appetite Dining is on three different levels, while an upstairs bar allows for guests to relax and choose from the menu, fish and grill boards. The contemporary British menu changes daily, based on availability of produce locally and the Chef's fancy at the time. Dinner could start with Thai king prawn salad with smoked salmon; or pigeon breast with a creme de cassis glaze, followed by an escalope of veal, and finished with dark Belgian chocolate mousse. The charming Fig Tree is a family-run restaurant and wine bar situated in the courtyard of a Grade II listed model farm on the Cawdor estate, by the River Towy and Dryslwyn Castle. Dinner could start with Thai king prawn salad with smoked salmon; or pigeon breast with a creme de cassis glaze, followed by an escalope of veal, and finished with dark Belgian chocolate mousse. Pork loin with garlic mushroom and leek sauce makes regular appearances, and four local lamb chops pan fried with rosemary and garlic butter really are the tops.
The food is supported by a list of almost 100 wines. The Fig Tree caters well for weddings and special occasions.

REVIEWS OF The Fig Tree Restaurant and Bar
Sue (20 February 2009)
We went for Valentine’s Day and it was wonderful. The greeting at the door with a rose and the beautiful champagne served at the table, it was all spectacular. The food was brilliant, we left feeling very satisfied and full. The same evening we stayed in one of their five star cottages and it worked out great as we didn’t have to drive home, just a short walk across the courtyard. We had a log burning open fire when we got back and a chilled bottle of champers in the fridge. The evening was fabulous and we couldn’t ask for better service, food or location. Wonderful!

Wonderful location, great food and polite members of staff! Great selection of food for each course, I could have had one of everything. Very nice touch when we were served homemade Welsh bread before our meal. Wine choices were fantastic, and we received excellent recommendations of wine by the bar man. After the meal we sat in the bar on very comfortable sofas, and then we were settled for the night. We will definitely return and invite our friends. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
