The Five Horseshoes

Maidensgrove, nr Henley-On-Thames, RG9 6EX

The Five Horseshoes is a lovely 16th century pub with brass, wrought iron, beams, burning fires and traditional pub games with real ales and good wines. There is a large conservatory restaurant area, two snug bars, and a beer garden that provides breathtaking views over the surrounding Chilterns. It is clear that the chef at Five Horseshoes is passionate about creating quality, homemade and traditional food using the freshest, local produce. Dishes such as chicken liver parfait, pave of smoked organic salmon, roast of Berkshire venison with baby vegetables and foie gras, and spinach and feta pies are served with flair. You could relax over mint and raspberry mojitos and hog roast on holidays and weekends throughout the summer.

REVIEWS OF The Five Horseshoes

Rachel Roberts (27 February 2007)

I feel I must express my surprise at the previous review of this pub/restaurant. The reviewer must have been very unlucky as I have eaten at the Five Horseshoes some ten times in the last six months and have found the service exemplary and charming, without exception. The food has been some of the best I have ever eaten - and the various friends that have accompanied me have agreed. It is good to see a restaurant offering fewer choices than is often the case - a sign that each is freshly cooked. The menu changes weekly and offers interesting and seasonal cooking at its very best. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Oh, and the setting is beautiful.
