The Galley
5 Fore Street, Salcombe, TQ8 8BY
Salcombe is home to a number of tourist attractions, but it is the sumptuous food at The Galley Restaurant that beckons those looking for a fresh and well prepared meal in pleasant and relaxing surroundings. Simple glass windows look out over the water affording guests a picturesque view of the yachts and the gently rolling harbour and the elegant décor is a fitting location for the delicious food that emerges from the kitchen. You could sample delights such as haddock fishcakes with chilli jam for starters before moving onto pan seared scallops served with pernod and chive sauce on a bed of wilted spinach. The freshness of the ingredients is a given although they take pains to assure you that everything is locally sourced and traceable.Salcombe is home to a number of tourist attractions, but it is the sumptuous food at The Galley Restaurant that beckons those looking for a fresh and well prepared meal in pleasant and relaxing surroundings. REVIEWS OF The Galley
Don (3 August 2009)
We visited The Galley on a Saturday this August. I called on spec without booking. They managed to get us a table. The staff were brilliant, knew the food and were very friendly and smiling. The food was excellent, would recommend.
Pippa Williamson (6 May 2007)
We visit Salcombe for two weeks every year, and we always go to The Galley, usually several times if we can get in. We always receive a very friendly welcome, and, although it is not cheap, the meals are always delicious and the whole experience is wonderful.
