The Galley is now under new ownership with a new Head Chef cooking a menu which changes every single day. The restaurant retains the 'seafood vibe', sourcing only Day Boat fish from Brixham, Newlyn and Looe, but meat and vegetarian options using the best of Devon produce have been added so everyone can enjoy dinner in this Grade II listed merchant's house with panoramic views overlooking the stunning River Exe. Topsham is a historic sea port surrounded by rolling farmland and The Galley aims to put the best of Devon on a plate. Head Chef, Ed McLachlan's style is to let the ingredients do the talking. A daily a la carte menu is available for both lunch and dinner. One of my favourite restaurants. I always come here when visiting the West Country. The food is not cheap but here you get what you pay for. Paul's cooking is innovative and fun and Mark is a great host. My favourite dish is the halibut with caviar butter and chilli ice cream. Yum! The crab cake starter is also lovely and the lobster and mango salad. Do save space for the desserts. I really like the Christmas Pudding done West Indian style and the crème brûlée. Decor is ever so slightly extrovert, but then so is this restaurant.

What a wonderful find, we both had Spa treatments, mine being the foot massage and my partner's being a spiritual couch healing session, both ownderful. Then we finished off by enjoying the fresh fish, whilst overlooking the river, a beautiful combination. Thank you Mark for looking after us and to Paul for the food.
