The only real mystery is how a Little Chef - which is what the Garden Café once was - came to be allowed in Regent's Park in the first place. Smoking or non-smoking? To nobody's surprise it was on the point of ceasing trading when along came Mike Lucy and saw the opportunity. Now it is a grill-restaurant serving classic English food, with a whiff of Little Chef still around. Chef Cyrus Cato produces delightful food, which includes lunch, summer suppers and pre-theatre meals, so expect to find grilled lemon chicken and potato salad, and chicken, aioli and red onion marmalade on focaccia. Puddings might include a rhubarb fool. The whole point of eating in the park is to be out in the open air, but just in case there are 150 seats inside.

The whole point of eating in the park is to be out in the open air, but just in case there are 150 seats inside. Afternoon teas are a speciality and it has even been suggested that a jug of Pimms after the office might not be such a bad idea. Value for money is excellent throughout.
