In its elegant setting on Manchester Road in the Isle of Dogs, Gaylord is an outstanding example of an Indian restaurant that enjoys building upon the royalty stereotype and with a great deal of conviction too. So, be prepared for regal surroundings when you find yourself ensconced in this charming place, reminiscent of royal India with the huge paintings on the walls and ornate furnishings, as you enjoy the delicious Mughlai cuisine.

The menu follows the North Indian route, bringing classic starters of murg bhajia, crispy fried chicken fritters and the ubiquitous shaami kebab, patties of mince, lentils and spices, shallow fried and served with minty sauce. There's a delightful selection of dishes cooked over live charcoals, lamb chops, fish and prawns amongst many, and from the extensive menu, you might be at a dilemma to choose a main course. Griddle cooked shredded chicken to creamy lamb curries, they seem to have it all. End the meal at Gaylord with a cool, delicately flavoured kulfi and top it off with a cup of steaming Indian masala tea.
