The Green Dragon

2 St Albans Road, Barnet, EN5 4RE

It may seem like the middle of nowhere. But the scenic setting of Green Dragon, entirely surrounded by fields and greenery, makes for a destination on its own, particularly due to their modern British food, pleasant surroundings and informal setting. Squashy sofas and comfy chairs line the bar while the dining area is beset with an air of carefully careless simplicity, whereas outside, the huge umbrellas and the wooden tables contribute to a most enchanting experience contemplating the panoramic views. Simplicity, that favourite epithet of British cooking, is a focal point of the food that emerges from the kitchen. You could start with the chicken, chorizo skewer and balsamic drizzle, following up with sirloin steak, vine tomatoes, Portobello mushroom, chunky chips and creamy pepper sauce ending with a chocolate or strawberry mousse.

REVIEWS OF The Green Dragon

Hunter (20 March 2012)

I visited this pub on Saturday 17th March 2012 and was thoroughly impressed. The service was fantastic, set menu extensive, and food delicious. The prices were about right, and the pint I ordered (Doom Bar) was well kept.

This old pub has plenty of charm, plenty of car parking, and did I mention the great service? NB the owner says he took over the Green Dragon in November 2011, so bear this in mind when reading other (older) reviews.

I would happily recommend this pub/restaurant.
