The Hogget Bar & Kitchen
London Road, Hook Common, Hook, RG27 9JJ
The appeal of country pubs lies in their ales, their food and the typically relaxed and friendly atmosphere that prevails. The Hogget Bar and Kitchen in the village of Hook scores on all points and you won't be surprised to find that it is pretty much one of the favourite local haunts. The décor is simple and unpretentious, and lets you soak up the ambience with ease. The emphasis is on modern British cooking using fresh local produce and starters of spiced lamb samosa with aubergine caviar and a tomato and red onion salad make an interesting beginning. For main course, you could try the perennial favourite, slow roast pork belly with baby carrots, puree of butternut squash, smoked bacon mash and red wine sauce. The appeal of country pubs lies in their ales, their food and the typically relaxed and friendly atmosphere that prevails. REVIEWS OF The Hogget Bar & Kitchen

We have just stopped for lunch. Had a lovely meal! Great food, friendly staff, nice bottle of wine. I would recommend ‘The Hogget’ to friends! Really good experience!

Outstanding, fabulous food and a wonderful wine list - there is something for everyone. Last week my husband and I visited The Hogget and once again were not disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxed and cheerful with the service being attentive yet not intrusive, but also knowledgeable. In particular, one waitress can run-off the contents of each dish, how we can alter it and offer her sincere recommendations. Furthermore she seemed like she truly enjoyed serving us, even though my husband is a nightmare! One word of warning - if you're not up for delicious food with plenty of helpings of charming servers, this place is not for you.
