The Joiners Arms

Church Walk, Bruntingthorpe, nr Market Harborough, LE17 5QH

Located in Church Walk in the village of Bruntingthorpe is The Joiners Arms, a welcoming pub that offers people a relaxed atmosphere and good quality Scottish and British cuisine. The pleasing interior of exposed beams, flagstone floor, plenty of brass and open fire appears warm and all the more inviting when bathed in candle light. The Joiners opened its doors in 2002, and discerning diners were not surprised when in 2005 it was included in the Michelin Guide. Owners Stephen and Tracy Fitzpatrick ensure their pub offers the best Scottish beef, local game and lamb, and a multitude of fish, fruits, and vegetables. Though the choice is not huge, The Joiners à la carte and blackboard menus offer dishes that are fresh and varied.

Feast on king scallops with Clonakilty black pudding, tempura king prawns with sweet chilli sauce or melon in elderflower and ginger jelly, for a start. Then follow through to mains such as juicy steaks, confit of duck with smoked bacon, Cornish cod and chorizo risotto or sea bass with crab ravioli. For those who crave after all things sweet, there is a brilliant mango and passion fruit Pavlova as well as raspberry soufflé and treacle tart. On Tuesday evenings guests can enjoy the fixed three-course 'auberge supper' with traditional specialties such as prawn and lobster bisque and slow cooked lamb with blue cheese mash.

The wine list presents examples from the New World and Europe including Gewurztraminer- Materne Haegelin, Torrontes - Crios de Susana Balbo and Rioja Vega Crianza.

REVIEWS OF The Joiners Arms

Tom (4 May 2010)

What a find! Our first visit to ‘The Joiners Arms’ was after seeing its inclusion in the Good Pub Guide. We called in for lunch during the week, great menu; you can eat extravagantly or moderately. Lunch was lovely, we had the scallops with Irish black pudding, spring lambs kidneys with chorizo and butter beans which was very tasty and tart tatin to finish. It’s a really nice place, with great wine list serving a lot of different wines by the glass, well worth a trip!
