Ruan Lanihorne, Truro, TR2 5NX
Nestled in the tiny hamlet of Ruan Lanihorne, a few miles outside Truro, The Kings Head reflects its beautiful location with a sophisticated menu put together by a devoted team of chefs. Owners Andrew and Nikki Law, with years of culinary experience behind them, have gone to great lengths to maintain the traditional warm country pub ambience that has locals and visitors gathering here all year round. For lunch, there's a choice of Cornwall brie with chorizo, garlic tiger prawns pan fried in Pernod, Cornish crab pâté and trio of local sausages with onion gravy and parsley mash. Dinner options run the gamut of chicken breast with Parma ham, roast fillet of pork with plum and ginger sauce, fricassee of wild mushroom linguini and prime Cornish sirloin, fillet or rump steak. The roast terras of ruan duckling, slow roasted and served with a pepper sauce, is the establishment's signature dish. Round off with a classic toffee and ginger pie or baked lemon cheesecake. Local beer from Skinners Brewery or a glass of wine adds to the pleasure.

REVIEWS OF The Kings Head at Truro

I tried three times to get a table at The Kings Head and all the time was fully booked. Last Sunday finally I could get a table. The waitress was really nice and prompt; she could remember the entire specials by heart. I had a lovely soup but my boyfriend ordered the duck and it was a bit dry. Never mind wrong choice. When it came to desserts a young boy came over, I asked him what kind of cheeses they served, he told a bit too straight “I bring over the menu and then you order” My boyfriend just said straight back that if the cheeses were like the duck was better not to order them. Nobody came over for more than 10minutes.It was not busy. I went to the bar and I asked kindly the same guy if there was any pasteurized cheese and he answered back “I do not think so “ ...bit strange ,before he could not tell what types of cheeses were on the menu and now without checking in the kitchen he knew straight away that there was not a single pasteurized cheese in the kitchen. So I asked him if I could have an herbal tea like a ginger and lemon or... and he told me that he did not have any.

The Kings Head is a little gem of a pub nestled in the hamlet of Ruan Lanihorne on the Roseland Peninsula. The special atmosphere is warm and welcoming mainly due to the great personality of Niki who with her husband Andrew are your hosts. Andrew and his team produce wonderful food and the specials board always has locally caught fish. Great real ales and if the weather is good a lovely garden for alfresco dining.
