The Ledbury
127 Ledbury Road, Notting Hill, London, W11 2AQ
It looks like residents of the leafy purlieus of Notting Hill are being knocked out by this trendy addition to the ranks of restaurants and other places where they eat. The Ledbury brings a whole new world into this area of good restaurants, so enter to an overwhelming ovation from massive areas of expensive dark wood, compelling chandeliers and accoutrements. Clearly this is a place that means business, an impression given further substance by the knowledge that in the kitchen Brett Graham, a winner of Young Chef of the Year titles world-wide, is firmly in charge. His style comes through in such considerations as Hereford snails in a mousseline of herbs to crisp chicken wings. Amongst other options look for the John Dory poached in brown butter or shoulder of Pyrenean milk fed lamb cooked for 24 hours with artichoke, fresh curd, wild garlic and dried olives. It looks like residents of the leafy purlieus of Notting Hill are being knocked out by this trendy addition to the ranks of restaurants and other places where they eat. REVIEWS OF The Ledbury
Phillida (8 September 2007)
We could not have had a better time celebrating our daughter's birthday than taking her out to dinner at the Ledbury. The decor was comfortable and unobtrusive, and the imposition of mood muzak is happily absent. The service by the completely delightful staff was first rate - and the chef's attention to and encouragement of a would-be chef teenager was the best present she could have been given. Most importantly, of course, the food was superb. Every taste of the different three courses of the three of us (and we all tried the others') was savoured for the different, subtle flavours. There could not be a more perfect soufflé anywhere. The New Zealand wines were also excellent - and finally, you could park right outside. Thanks to everyone at the Ledbury.
