The Living Room - Chester
13 St Werburgh Street, Chester, CH1 2DY
Across its varied locations in the UK, The Living Room group of restaurants have become synonymous with delicious food in a comfortable atmosphere. Soothing music, a relaxed ambience and typical gastropub fare, aptly named Home Comforts, along with European influences have made this into a popular dining destination regardless of the venue. The execution is simple and the presentation, fantastic, so naturally the overall experience becomes something that you cherish and come to savour. From the á la carte, choose beer battered tiger prawns with a sweet chilli sauce and wasabi or something from the small plates selection which includes chorizo sausage pan fried in chilli and red wine.Across its varied locations in the UK, The Living Room group of restaurants have become synonymous with delicious food in a comfortable atmosphere. Amongst main courses, the steak, ale and mushroom pie vies for attention alongside a rib eye steak with peppercorn sauce and chips and the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and raspberry compote qualifies for an exceedingly rich dessert. The drinks list has contemporary and classic wines and champagnes which meet all requirements suitably.

REVIEWS OF The Living Room - Chester
Berni (22 June 2008)
My partner and I ate at The Living Room. We've never been there before but will definitely go back. The meal was gorgeous, the atmosphere was brilliant and the service was amazing. I was also very impressed with the bill at the end. If you want a top notch meal in a sophisticated atmosphere with first class friendly service then I suggest you go to The Living Room in Chester.

I'm not sure where to begin here - I'm quite overwhelmed by my recent experience. Let's start by saying I've eaten and drank in the Living Room on several occasions before and always found the food and service good. On arrival our party (including one toddler and one baby) were politely shown to a suitable table. Room was made for the pushchair and we were asked if we wanted any drinks - we hadn't actually sat down yet. Drinks served we were asked if we were ready to order - we hadn't been given any menus. Seconds after being handed the menus we were pounced upon by what tragically turned out to be our waitress for the night. I won't bother telling you about the food which ranged from tasteless and cold to steaming hot and delicious. My gripe was the extremely brash manner of the staff. From serving a second cup of black coffee (The first one was awful) with a suspicious oily film across the top to walking away mouthing the words "****ing bitch" our intrepid and bubbly "knows-she's-got-it-right" waitress could only stagger us further with alternate rude and false obsequious manners. Maybe we were unlucky - as I said I've enjoyed my time there in the past but I shan't hurry back again.

Frozen Mop, The
Knutsford
The unusual name of 'The Frozen Mop' is reputed to come from a local legend involving a cleaner and a cold winter's night, but apparently there are several versions of the story and the real attribution ...
