The yellow, industrial-looking building in Tottenham, where the Lock Dining Bar is housed, does not do justice to what is actually offered inside. The spacious dining area looks comfortable, with sofas on one side, quaint mismatched tables, North African lamps and glowing candles.

The menu is full of interesting dishes with a French and Italian twist. Dishes range from tagliatelle with artichokes, tomatoes and pan-fried halibut with pumpkin risotto to a flavoursome rump of lamb on a bed of shredded cabbage. While the mains are hearty, it could be a good idea to leave room to sample the frangipane tart with fresh custard, and berries or tarte tatin of Braeburn apples.

The wines are handpicked and as reasonable as the dishes on the menu. Much of their produce is locally sourced from the Walthamstow markets and all baking is done on the premises, ensuring maximum freshness.
