The Merry Miller
Cothill Road, Dry Sandford, nr Abingdon, OX13 6JW
The Merry Miller is a small village pub where customers are encouraged to forget the cares of life and 'eat, drink and be merry' for as long as they want. Situated in the village of Cothill, the inn benefits from being only 4 miles from Abingdon, ideal to relax and enjoy good food and drink. The traditional decor mixes leather oxblood chesterfields with soft contemporary furnishings, scrubbed wooden beamed ceilings, and distressed pine panelling, with a distinct Tuscan feel. There are bare wooden boards, original parquet and Oxfordshire flagstones covering the floors and chairs interestingly rescued from a nearby chapel! The pub serves delicious homemade delights such as slow roasted half shoulder of lamb, moussaka, smoked haddock, assiette of crab and salmon, crispy stone baked pizzas, baguettes, paninis, salads, as well as a range of tempting desserts like Belgium chocolate and rum torte, and baked Oxford parkin with raspberry ripple. The Merry Miller is a small village pub where customers are encouraged to forget the cares of life and 'eat, drink and be merry' for as long as they want. REVIEWS OF The Merry Miller
Lovely Potatoes (25 November 2010)
I visited the Merry Miller recently for a weekday lunch. Despite being the only other party in the restaurant, we had a prime seat in armchairs by the fireside, and it being bitterly cold, the fire was very welcome! The atmosphere was lovely, cosy and the service was pleasant and efficient. But the food was even better. The menu is reasonably priced and I liked the fact that they offer portions in two sizes - full main course or lighter lunch. I ordered the sausage, egg and chips as a lighter lunch and not only was it very generous. Just imagine what the full size portion is like! The meal was delicious, and the sausages were absolutely beautiful - some of the best I've ever had. There was also a welcome portion of salad, and all for £5.95! I can't recommend this pub highly enough and will definitely be returning!
Mrs Butcher (10 June 2009)
Great evening! Hubby and I went for dinner on Tuesday curry night. Hubby ordered from the main menu and I ordered from the curry selection. Fantastic! The food was tasty and there was plenty of it. Service was outstanding. I recommend to all.
