The Mill Tea & Dining Room
The Town Mill, Mill Lane, Lyme Regis, DT7 3PU
Located in the centre of the town, just off Coombe Street, is the Town Mill Complex nestling around the cobbled courtyard of an old mill house dating back to 1340. With al fresco seating, The Mill Tea and Dining Room takes a prominent spot in the compound and its décor has an English old school glamour marked by the vintage linen upholstery, Chapman Brothers artwork, bronze chandelier and antique union jacks. A seasonally inspired and simple menu characterises traditional cooking, and starters such as potted rabbit and sweet onions, Duchy of Cornwall oysters and home smoked salmon and pickled cucumber are followed by lamb faggots cooked in pea puree and chicken leg stuffed with bacon and creamed leeks.Located in the centre of the town, just off Coombe Street, is the Town Mill Complex nestling around the cobbled courtyard of an old mill house dating back to 1340. REVIEWS OF The Mill Tea & Dining Room

The pride and skill with which this entire restaurant and its food is presented is amazing. The standard of food here puts many of the expensive places I have dinned and in London to shame. It isn't formal or fussy, just incredibly well run, friendly with an accomplished chef who clearly knows how to put a great menu together. If you visit one restaurant in the area, this is the one to go to - oh and don't skip desert, they are the bees knees!

The entire experience was thoroughly enjoyable. There was a simple yet elegant atmosphere and the waitress was polite, friendly and very competent, managing a full restaurant whilst at the same time giving us plenty of time, offering an excellent knowledge of where the ingredients had been sourced. The food itself was exquisite; for starters we had superb local oysters and for mains we had the lamb faggots and the stuffed chicken, both delicious. As for dessert, possibly the best treacle tart I have ever tasted! As for drinks, we had a couple of homemade sloe gin and tonics which were divine, so divine that we ended up taking a bottle of it home from their little shelf of products afterwards. It’s easily the best restaurant in Dorset if not the south coast of England.
