We celebrated my husband's birthday this Monday at the Nut Tree. We were late arriving as M40 was blocked but the welcome was warm and unhurried. We were offered a drink at the bar whilst we perused the menu. Four of us sat down for lunch and have to say it was all excellent. My sea bream was full and flavorsome with a superb herb risotto, though I consider that my husband makes a mean risotto but this was sublime. I had a wonderful clementine souffle that was so light and citrusy with a great chocolate ice-cream. Service was friendly without being stuffy. Only thing that let the place down was the entrance from the back car park - Spanish tiles did not suit old world inn. Also toilet facilities are a little Spartan. Otherwise it’s 10 out of 10.

We had the tasting menu and we thought it was fantastic, it was a little pricey ,maybe £40 or so, but well worth it, less than what you'd pay elsewhere for equivalent food and we didn't eat much for the next two days. We think it's a wonderful, friendly place, far less intimidating and stuffy than other starred places.
