The Old Post Restaurant

Holywell Street, Chesterfield, S41 7SH

An old building full of charm and character, The Old Post dates back in parts to the 15th century, with even the "newer" parts added in the 18th century. Small and cosy - they only have 8 tables, The Post is ideal for dining with friends or an intimate meal for two, they can also cater for small functions. Proprietors Hugh and Mary Cocker have recently taken over The Old Post, having spent almost 20 years working in various top class country house hotels and restaurants around the country. Everything is homemade on the premises by Hugh, from bread to desserts and petit fours, and with dishes like roast haunch of Welsh venison, cassis onions, potato gnocchi, ruby port sauce; fillet of Cornish brill gently braised in lobster butter and chardonnay, Jersey royals and baby vegetables or caramelised breast of Barbary duck, roasted apricots, confit of leg, plum sauce and dauphinoise potatoes the menu is well constructed to tempt you.
