The Old Thatched Inn

Main Street, Adstock, nr Buckingham, MK18 2JN

The Old Thatched Inn is a cosy and comfortable country inn right at the heart of the picturesque village of Adstock and it dates back to the 18th century, so you can expect quite some history associated with it. The stark whitewashed walls stand in contrast to the warmth that the thatched roof exudes, but it is inside that the inn turns into a welcoming haven for those who love to linger over their pints and exchange stories with friends. Starters from the à la carte include country game terrine with apricot and onion marmalade and toast followed by pan fried fresh Cornish cod fillet with mash potato and cockle and herb butter. For dessert, there's a bitter chocolate and cherry tart with candied orange peel and crème fraiche.

REVIEWS OF The Old Thatched Inn

Yorkists (26 July 2011)

We visited this restaurant after seeing reviews on-line. We had travelled from Yorkshire for the weekend. We were not disappointed. Saturday evening was very busy, the car park was full and we were pleased to have a reservation. The staff were welcoming and we enjoyed our aperitifs amongst the wonderful flower filled baskets outside. There were four in our party and all our choices were delicious. We especially enjoyed the cheese selection with our coffee. Some reviews have commented on the cost, but we found it very good value and would highly recommend.

We went there last weekend on Fathers day and have to say the food and service was outstanding. I highly recommend the slow roasted pork with perfect crackling; I liked it so much that I'm taking my family there again this weekend for a birthday treat. The only negative is that the roast potatoes are not to the same standard as the rest of the meal, with a similar taste to frozen ones, and have been on every occasion. The chunky chips are almost the same size and much nicer so I would even consider asking them to swap potato choice! The dessert menu is very nice and caters for all choices. A lovely atmosphere, welcoming staff and great food!
