I do not like telling people about great places. I've done it before and they get so much business, register great years of trading and flog it at a well earned and enormous profit then disappear and leave us to mourn our loss in the presence of incompetent oafs who don't deserve my time, patronage or money. So I'm not going to tell you about its wonderful atmosphere. Its singularly unique and innovative menu, packed with complex, intriguing combinations, in portions which are always ample and presented to delight the most critical eye - always. I'm also going to keep to myself the fact that the menu abounds with locally sourced ingredients, even the mineral water comes from a couple of miles up the road for God's sake. So stay away. I want more of those six or so, local real ales from this part of Yorkshire just for me. And when I drink them I want that seat on the well-used sofa in front of that open fire too, not to mention that's where I'll have my coffee after those three lovely courses that'd comfortably justify some of Mr M's stars and yet costs me less than 40 quid. I don't go back to places often. I get bored easily. I like new adventures and experiences. Sometimes I am forced into changing the habits of a lifetime. But I'm not going to tell you about that either. Enjoy. I did and still do - time and time and time and time again.
