A refurbishment has given The Plough at Lupton an interior that is a beautiful open space with wood burning stoves, stunning oak beams, antique furniture and rustic wine caves. With a history going back to 1760ish, it is more than a rest stop today, characterised as it is by its fine ambience and quality food.

A varied selection of small plates and side dishes, from seafood to a hearty steak or Japanese tempura to a Moroccan kebab is what The Plough offers. Sample such fare as teriyaki salmon, Carlingford oysters, courgette fritters, bacon chops, grilled plaice and gnocchi gratin. For dessert, try chocolate fondue, vanilla pannacotta or pistachio cake, or end with cheese, whipped Stilton, breaded brie or Isle of Avalon. To delight its clientele further, there's a selection of fine beers, local hand pulled ales and an impressive wine list, many of which are served by the glass.
