The Popeseye - Upper Richmond Road
277 Upper Richmond Road, London, SW15 6SP
This place is truly a carnivore's delight. A simple and uncomplicated menu offers three different types of steaks in five sizes, and that's it. At the Popeseye Steak House, no one will even ask for more. Richly textured and beautifully flavoured, the grass fed Aberdeen Angus beef comes straight from Scotland and is hung for two weeks. In the friendly and unfussy atmosphere, diners can choose to sit outside in the garden area for a delicious al fresco meal. The unconventional menu does away with typical first courses or bread. Steaks are served as popeseye - another name for rump - sirloin and fillet and sizes range from a mere 6 oz to 30 oz. Chips and salads accompany the meal and those in the mood for a sweet something after a heavy and meaty meal could choose something from the range of homemade puddings or ice creams. This place is truly a carnivore's delight. REVIEWS OF The Popeseye - Upper Richmond Road
Johnny (8 November 2006)
My perfect restaurant - wonderful steaks and a great selection of clarets. Friendly and unpretentious. It's so easy these days to go somewhere and spend a significant amount on what is often pretty ordinary food - we now tend to stay in more and cook, or else go to the Popeseye. We're very lucky having this place as our local.
Marc (19 July 2006)
The place is no match for Gaucho Grill, save yourselves the trouble and go there. The prices are the same if not more and the steaks are nowhere nearly as good. The chips came straight from the deep fat fryer laced with oil, very similar to your local fish and chip shop.
