The Prince Bonaparte
80 Chepstow Road, Notting Hill, London, W2 5BE
The legendary Chepstow Road drinking den The Prince Bonaparte, an eclectic mix of classic London boozer and Regency finery, is bound to draw everyone, from Notting Hill's ladies-who-lunch to the more arty down-to-earth crowd. In keeping with the traditional design of the pub, the horse-shoe shaped wood-panelled bar, plus wooden tables, chairs and floors, lends a homely feel while the striped Regency-style sofas and upholstered armchairs are almost palatial. The kitchen brings some serious modern British food to its diners; take brisket hash cake with poached egg, smoked mackerel pâté and ham hock terrine for starters. Main courses are a bit more ambitious with a 28 day hung Scottish rib-eye and barramundi with mango, pepper and tomatoes. The legendary Chepstow Road drinking den The Prince Bonaparte, an eclectic mix of classic London boozer and Regency finery, is bound to draw everyone, from Notting Hill's ladies-who-lunch to the more arty down-to-earth crowd. The Prince Bonaparte boasts an extensive range of cask ales and specialist beers to rival that of any pub the local area. The wine list offers many New and Old World specialities by the glass, and the cocktail menu is not to be missed either.

REVIEWS OF The Prince Bonaparte
Michael (25 August 2007)
The service in that place was awful. The waitresses were a law on to themselves. I understand that was not the case in the past. I was part of a party of ten people. One of us actually went to the trouble of writing down the order and giving it to one of the waitresses. About half an hour later only eight meals were served. When asked about the other two the waitress who took the order blamed another waitress. When a firm complaint was made to her (which was not in the least aggressive) we suffered an OTT rude reaction. After a further half hour of waiting, the manager, eventually held his hands up and agreed to take a significant sum off the bill. The food when it arrived was ok and reasonably priced. The service, however, has let this place down so much.
