The Real Greek - Bankside

Units 1-2, Riverside House, 2A Southwark Bridge Road, London, SE1 9HA

The Real Greek first opened its doors in 1999 and now has seven outlets, ample proof that customers love the Greek street food on offer in the comfort of quiet, charming and sophisticated interiors with chandeliers, wooden flooring and cocktail style seating, where Hoxton and Clerkenwell blend with the neon lights of Bankside. Freshly cooked Mediterranean food, like so many other forms of cuisine, is all about outstanding ingredients, unique textures and honest flavours. The Real Greek demonstrates this through their mezes, small savoury appetisers that are best had with hot flatbread, before going on to enjoy the souvlaki or the Greek grilled kebab. Hot meze include choices like deep-fried whitebait, and grilled octopus tossed in olive oil, lemon, garlic and Greek mountain oregano.

REVIEWS OF The Real Greek - Bankside

Sarah (18 February 2008)

Two girlfriends and I visited the Real Greek Bankside, on a Sunday evening. We were shown to our table and left with the menus. We must have waited about 20 minutes before having to draw someone's attention so that we could order our drinks and food.

Our food was bought out prompty, and I have to say, the food was fantastic. We could not fault it. We had ten different dishes and each one was great. We kept a menu behind in case we wanted to order more, but as we were not approached once during our meal, to even be asked if everything was ok, we never got round to ordering more. We then waited 45 minutes for our table to be cleared and we didn't even think of ordering dessert.

The staff were slow, unattentive and did not once smile or ask if everything was ok. We paid our bill, minus the service charge. I would diffinitely recommend this restaurant, but I would try another branch.
