The Restaurant at The Lamb Inn
The Lamb Inn, Sheep Street, Burford, OX18 4LR
Another wonderful 15th century Cotswold inn with all the trimmings in the form of oak beams, antiques and stone flag floors; the Lamb Inn is truly a place for all seasons. Situated at the 'gateway to The Cotswolds' it still offers traditional charm with modern food and service standards. Lunch can be taken in the bar, lounges or restaurant; or indeed in the delightful walled garden and courtyard. Dinner is available in the recently refurbished restaurant, but a bar menu is also available every evening. It is to places like The Lamb that people return repeatedly to enjoy quality English cooking in relaxed and traditional surroundings. Perhaps that is why it was named as Oxfordshire's Dining Pub of the Year in the 2004 Good Pub Guide.Another wonderful 15th century Cotswold inn with all the trimmings in the form of oak beams, antiques and stone flag floors; the Lamb Inn is truly a place for all seasons. REVIEWS OF The Restaurant at The Lamb Inn
Ian M Sharp (25 August 2008)
After contemplating many restaurants within a 15 minute drive from our home in Witney, my wife and I chose the Lamb Restaurant and what a poor decision it was. The Lamb has no atmospheres and reminded us of waiting outside the headmaster’s office prior to being canned for some minor offence. As we waited for our table for an hour, the waiter served us drinks, mine a dry white wine and when we say a full glass I mean a full glass; the drinks were accompanied by cherry tomatoes with melon to be exact. Our orders were taken and Nady chose the pea soup and I chose the tuna; this was followed by the duck breast and after a lot of deliberation I settled for the red mullet. The main restaurant had no ambience and very little service, the pea soup was bland and lacked any seasoning, the tuna, however, did offer a ray of light with three different tastes, however the chilli was so overpowering that the delicate flavour of the tuna was completely lost. Nady asked for her duck breast to be served pink and it was overcooked. The duck was supported by a vanilla mash, which was burnt and returned with the duck. The red mullet was well below average and the dish must have been left under a cooking lamp as the soft fish had turned into a dry slab without any flavour. I questioned the staff on the quality of the food, however, no one seemed to know if the restaurant manager was on site, and they offered no apologies for the food. The waiters had no understanding of serving wine or the correct manner of serving food. This is one restaurant that we won’t be returning to.

I was taken here by my sister and mother for a family birthday meal, and i have to say that the food was excellent. I loved the old feel of the place, at first I thought the portions were too small, but as the hostess instructed, the three course meal was designed perfectly to fill.
The service was delightful. So delightful, I will be returning with my partner very soon.
