Us Four (12 October 2009)

Well, the food and service was superb and the four of us visited for Saturday lunch. I had the meatloaf, gravy and mash, it was a wow! Absolutely delicious, proper home cooked food from across the pond. My friend had chicken salad which she loved, and we all had some cornbread, which was scrumptious, my husband had the fishcake which he said was the best he's ever had, and my friend had a burger, which he really enjoyed. It was nice that the American chef came out to talk to us, and didn't mind sharing his recipes. Believe me, he really knows his stuff, although I’m sorry I didn't get his name. The cost for the meal was really good, about twelve quid a head with drinks. If you want something quite different from normal British mass produced pub grub and want really good homemade food, visit this place. Another thing I liked was the bar, it’s a proper traditional pub with flagstone floor, darts etc. I can’t wait to go back to try the rice and beans.
