Known also as 'the restaurant on the green', Soufflé is in a 16th century house which has been fashioned to a degree of elegance that tweaks the tastebuds no end. Nor are they disappointed, though the fulfilment comes in a more robust manner. Pave of salmon with béarnaise and parsnip gnocchi comes to mind. Wine list draws mainly from France too and House wine starts at £12.50 which comes as something of a relief.Modern British

My husband and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary this week and after careful consideration decided to try soufflé. We have been lucky enough to eat in some of the best restaurants but have to say that souffle is up there with them. The food was faultless and unlike some other reviews saying they were left hungry, we both found it just enough, feeling comfortably full just how you should feel. The service was superb and the atmosphere was perfect. We loved it and being a bit of a foodie I would recommend souffle to anyone who appreciates excellent food but who isn't greedy. We were pleasantly surprised by how reasonable our meal was - we had a mid week special three courses including wine for less than £50, excellent!

Souffle has a fabulous location and the dining area in front of the restaurant overlooking the green was a special touch. However, for the price of the food, I personally do not think it was worth the money. I like good food and I expect something a little special as a result of paying a fair amount for a set menu. The starters were lovely but the mains let the experience down a little by not being anything special. Something I could have made at home for example. For my dessert, I had ordered a trio of crème brulee. All three were like drinks with a hard top which were certainly not how they should have been. However, upon mentioning this to the waitress, we were offered a free drink which was appreciated.
