Here is your traditional English country pub complete with all the traditional accoutrements, including real ale and the odd local who can manage to elbow his way in past an appreciative clientele who know a good thing when they taste it. Spain prevails, which is not surprising should you meet Maria Teresa Axon, chef/proprietor, originally from Catalonia. Specialities are pig's trotters, anchovies and swordfish. There is a short selection of wines of the month, a main list of some 60, with extensive Spanish input. House wines start at £12.00 a bottle or by the glass at a very reasonable £2.50.Spanish

I have been to The Star Inn on several occasions and have found it to be a fabulous experience every time. Maria makes you feel like an old friend even if you have never been there before. The food is delicious and there is an extensive separate vegetarian menu! So veggies don't have to put up with the usual frozen vegetable lasagne - you actually have a choice! For the carnivores, there are many unusual and delicious meals all served with lovely Spanish wines. It’s not cheap, but well worth the extra for a treat. I am going there tonight with my husband, can't wait!

We stumbled across this gem on Sunday lunchtime. Fantastic! Food was amazing, can honestly say - have never tasted roast potatoes like it. My two children cleared their plates. It’s unheard of. Friendly staff couldn’t have been more inviting, lovely country pub atmosphere, will definitely be going again.
