The Three Chimneys

Hareplain Road, Biddenden, TN27 8LW

A typical old Kentish pub on the outskirts of the village, which itself retains great charm. All the features you might expect seem to be there including open fires, a beer garden, live music on occasions and some real antique interiors. On the food front expect home-cooked, sturdy fare starting with snacks such as baked mushrooms with goats cheese and ascending through soups, excellent pies and familiar puddings like lemon tart with plum compote. The real ales alone are worth the pilgrimage, though you are not entirely dependent upon them and a decent wine list assists.

REVIEWS OF The Three Chimneys

Gary Hills (28 December 2009)

We went to this restaurant over the Christmas Bank Holiday, Had phoned, but could not get through, so left a message and just turned up. They had tried to call our mobile 3 times, but also could not get through, yet they still reserved a table for us, good start. Overall the experience was very good, the starters (crab cakes) and main meal (rib eye steak) was well presented, the meals were very, very good, and the service to match. The only downside, as there always is, firstly, the table for two was a bit dark and we had trouble seeing our lovely food, and secondly the price, We don’t mind paying for good food, but would estimate the prices to be about 20% over the top, a beer, two glasses of wine, two starters and two steaks for £70 is a bit too much for lunch compared to other places in Kent. I had heard a few bad reviews about the restaurant, but my advice is to give it a try, the food quality was exceptional.

Richard Lee-Smith (28 September 2008)

The experience was very disappointing. The food was very bland although the portions were generous. I feel this place is overrated and overpriced.
