REVIEWS OF The Tin Goose

My wife and I had lunch at the Tin Goose at Terminal 1 in Heathrow today. The décor was pleasing - the food and service was not. We both ordered coffee, which was not nearly as hot as we would normally expect. I ordered a ham sandwich with brown bread from the menu. After some time the waitress returned to say there was no ham. No ham for a sandwich in a restaurant! I then asked for a corned beef sandwich. Eventually this came, but with white bread. I couldn't face the hassle of trying to explain that I had ordered brown bread, so I took what I was given. The bread was not buttered and the corned beef tasted and looked bland. Fortunately we had plenty of time to wait for our plane, since the service took far too long. We won't be back again at the Tin Goose.

I visited The Tin Goose at Terminal 1 at Heathrow Airport on a Wednesday in December - my last breakfast of the year and what a disappointment. It looked good value - a full English breakfast at £7.95 but I should have been warned when I was told there was no decaffeinated coffee - the order hadn't arrived. I went ahead and ordered omitting the mushrooms and baked beans. When the breakfast arrived the bacon was cold and the eggs looked at me like someone winking an eye; one of the eggs was broken and the other was on top of it; they were in the shape of a ring and tasted terrible. The sausage wasn't cooked properly but the bacon, even though it was cold, wasn't bad. I was told that if I ordered tea with my meal it would be complimentary - but no decaff; the order hadn't come in. I had a plane to catch I was in a hurry so I ate it. Someone ordered chips: 'we don't have any today;' croissants 'the order hadn't come in.' I give this place one star out of five and I have given up ever trying to get a full English breakfast at Heathrow Airport.
