Celebrating British produce and simple cooking, the menu divides into fish, grill, and pie and mash. A roasts menu presents all time favourites with all the trimmings. Lunch or dinner could begin with Welsh rarebit, Tommyfield terrine or whitebait. Then move on to fish of the day, battered or grilled, with chips and salad, pork tenderloin and crispy belly with butternut squash or duck leg confit with butter bean casserole and greens. And finally close with rhubarb and apple crumble or Eton mess. That a pint of excellent cask ale or a glass of award-winning English wine can be good company could be to state the obvious.
