The Troubadour
263-7 Old Brompton Road, Earl's Court, London, SW5 9JA
The Troubadour is a proper café, the last 1950s coffee house in Earl's Court with a proud history as a low temperature centre of courtesy, peace and artistic energy. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2004, and could be described as truly different in a wonderfully unique way. They offer great breakfasts including the full house - two eggs, sausage, bacon, tomato and toast - or Lady Muck's - smoked salmon and two eggs on a muffin. The Hard Core Troubadour, a 10 oz rib eye steak, is a best seller while there are excellent vegetarian options such as lasagne with mixed salad, or the great rabbit festival salad, which would make any rabbit envious. Downstairs is the Club which Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon all played in the 1960s.The Troubadour is a proper café, the last 1950s coffee house in Earl's Court with a proud history as a low temperature centre of courtesy, peace and artistic energy. Downstairs is the Club which Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon all played in the 1960s. Today they still have a full programme of live music, poetry and comedy. Next door is the wine bar and shop and they've also kitted out the wonderfully light room above as an art gallery, which is available for exhibitions and private room hire for any occasion.

REVIEWS OF The Troubadour
Rosie Inge (31 July 2009)
The Troubadour has somehow maintained its Bohemian atmosphere which developed in the 50s and 60s in an age where minimalism is it and change is everything. It also doubled in size, added a sweet garden, a gallery for private events and a bordello of a flat on the top floor, feels like 600 steps up - great view of the Mary Poppins nightscape. They've never sought Michelin stars or Rosettes, but the hamburgers have been consistently good for nearly 60 years - and not even popular burger chains can say that. They have a threesome of dips which are delicious, omelettes made from chickens which have lived and steak that melts in your mouth. And, best of all, they have cider from Somerset.
