The Viceroy is a thoroughly individual, recently opened Indian restaurant in Sherwood, aiming to present the very best of Indian cuisine, with its traditional recipes brought from the heart of India, highlighting the fact that genuine Punjabi food tastes like no other. They can seat up 200 people and have a private venue, which can be hired for either busines or personal use. Group and party bookings are welcome with buffet menus that can be designed to suit your requirements. A bonus is the fact that there is easily accessible parking and it is only a five minute ride from the city centre.

We thought we would try the Viceroy as we had driven past it numerous times. We went on a Monday and had the three course meal for £10. The birthday girl had a chicken jalfrezi which was good and she took some, home with her as she couldn’t finish it. Our set meal was delicious. There was plenty to eat and very tasty. The service was good, with a friendly atmosphere and the place looked very clean and well presented. I have recommended to friends and family.

This is fast becoming our local. The food is amazing, very generous portions, beautifully cooked and somehow much more distinctive than many Indian restaurants. The fish tikka starter is - in my opinion - to die for. Service is perfect - polite and attentive without being obtrusive, and there are nice touches such as water provided without you having to ask. The décor is stunning. My only quibble - and it's very small really - is the chutneys provided with the poppadoms, which are really dips and so liquid they just run off the poppadoms and end up on the table and running down your hands! But then they are provided free, which is not the case everywhere.
