The Waterway
54 Formosa Street, London, W9 2JU
Just off West London's Warwick Avenue on Formosa Street lies the elegant Waterway restaurant, so named for its views over the nearby Grand Union Canal. Though the location, complete with terrace area, is ideally predisposed to summer dining, the rich chocolate brown and dark mahogany décor make it a cosy winter retreat too. If your palate needs a little warming up, how about choosing from a list of scrumptious canapés like baked Indian chicken with a fried poppadom, lobster and soft poached quail egg in a filo basket, and Bloody Mary infused fillet of beef. On the à la carte you'll find char-grilled squid with a chilli sauce, balsamic and mixed leaves, and corn-fed chicken with squash and garlic leaf risotto and roast cherry tomato on the vine.Just off West London's Warwick Avenue on Formosa Street lies the elegant Waterway restaurant, so named for its views over the nearby Grand Union Canal. REVIEWS OF The Waterway
Mark and Helen (8 April 2006)
Stumbled upon this place and it looked very welcoming and popular from the outside. The BBQ was up and running and we found a table.
Sadly this is where the high expectations ended. It took about 10 minutes to give our order to the somewhat confused waiter.
After waiting a further 10 minutes for our drinks, we had to remind them about the missing items. Instead of a polite apology, he was abrupt and blamed the fancy new electronic ordering system they were using. We eventually got our drinks.
Food arrived after 45 minutes, my burger was excellent but my girlfriend's tuna steak was way too small (it was more of a starter portion) and cold and had very little salad with it. For both meals they never asked how we wanted it cooked.
When the bill came it already included a 12.5% service charge (a practice I hate) and they had charged us for 3 burgers! We gave the manager money for the food and drink we ate and drank and told him it doesn't include the service charge because the service was appalling.
This place has the potential, maybe the inside restaurant is better, but sadly we won't be going back.
