The Wet Fish Cafe
242 West End Lane, London, NW6 1LG
Way back in the 1900s, 242 West Lane was a classic wet fish shop, but the arduous task of transforming a run down site to a smart café deserves a round of applause. With strategic lighting and art deco walls, The Wet Fish Café has indeed hit it off well with the cocktail and seafood loving West Hampstead locals. A glass of Elderflower Spritz or Kir Royale could easily bring on the mood and just when the tapas rage hits you look out for that plate of whitebait with aioli, Scottish smoked salmon and warm grilled chorizo in port. For main courses there's pan-seared sea bass with chorizo, or rack of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and red cabbage, but keep an eye out for the pasta and risotto of the day and warm pear tarte tatin for desserts.Way back in the 1900s, 242 West Lane was a classic wet fish shop, but the arduous task of transforming a run down site to a smart café deserves a round of applause.
