Thimble Inn

14 High Street, Piddlehinton, nr Dorchester, DT2 7TD

Another of those quintessential English pubs, complete with thatched roof, well stocked stream running past the door and plenty of lush Dorset countryside all around. Inside the place is a mass of little alcoves and nooks in completely unreconstructed form, and long may they stay so. The food is uncomplicated, pheasant and venison game pie, rabbit and mushroom pudding, followed by warm damson and apple crumble, orange sponge and warm Dorset applecake. There are over 100 dishes from which to make your selection, together with a short, but perfectly adequate wine list. The real pull is the array of fine ales that includes Badger best bitter, Badger Tanglefoot and Ringwood Old Thumper.

REVIEWS OF Thimble Inn

Phil D (29 May 2011)

A really nice cosy, atmosphere. The staff, landlady and landlord are really friendly. The food is superb. The place caters for all comers and is in really nice surroundings. Marks - ten out of ten!

Naj (28 March 2008)

Their rabbit and mushroom pie was excellent and the vegetables were very good. They offer a good range of bitters and friendly service.
