After going to Thornbury Hall Rasoi for the first time a few years back, I was delighted to see a beautifully restored Georgian house in the North Staffordshire countryside but I had not the slightest idea of the sensorial journey that was to follow. The dining rooms draw you into the mysterious traditions of the ancient Mogul period although the oriental decoration of the interiors is of taste and subtle. Colours of red, green and white also reflect in the food and the scent that lingers of oriental spices and herbs and the knowledge of such which has been passed down through the generations are sapiently combined to tingle and delight the palate. Their menu is a journey in itself but the well trained staff are on hand to explain and advise, so we always go back to try something else. There is certainly no lack of variety and includes vegetarian and children’s dishes. The real treasure chest of any restaurant is ‘the kitchen’ and Thornbury Hall has the golden knowhow of Mrs. Parveen Siddique a splendid lady who greets her guests and makes them feel completely at ease. She seems to have taken the best of two worlds and put them together for she has a sharp eye and a passion for her work. My grandchildren assure me that Thornbury Hall has the best chocolate covered green mint ice cream in the world and that is the best cherry on top of any cake! When in UK we will just keep going back but I would love a great restaurant like Thornbury Hall in Rome, Italy too.

Try the Sunday buffet lunch at Thornbury Hall - wonderful three courses, great personal service and well stocked bar at pub prices. The dining room decor is truly unique. All in all, it’s a different dining experience that won’t break the bank.
