Thrales Restaurant

Should you have mislaid the Sunday lunch habit, but want to re-establish it head for the lovely Thrales in the historic Cathedral town of Lichfield. It's a two or three course job, so leave plenty of time for maximum enjoyment The Michelin listed restaurant welcomes children and can always cook dishes to suit their requirements. Exciting starters lead into the main course, where there is a wonderful choice from amongst roast beef, pork, lamb, with game in season, and fish when the market's right. The set lunch menu at £6.50 for two courses brings a wide range of customers. A list of puddings lays you wide open to the most awful temptation and to cap it all there is an impressive cheese board.Should you have mislaid the Sunday lunch habit, but want to re-establish it head for the lovely Thrales in the historic Cathedral town of Lichfield. A list of puddings lays you wide open to the most awful temptation and to cap it all there is an impressive cheese board. The cost of this little indulgence is such a bargain that I am not even going to spoil it for you. Just go there. An interesting wine list with house wine at £14.50 provides ample line support.

REVIEWS OF Thrales Restaurant
Alleeganger (27 March 2009)
I chose Thrales as the place to eat to celebrate my 50th birthday, having used the restaurant at different times over the past 25 years plus we’ve always had a good time. However, this time we were massively disappointed with three major errors during the night. For aperitif we ordered among other things three Kir’s but when the drinks came we found we had three Kir Royale’s, oh well it was an easy mistake! The main courses came and my son’s partner who is a vegetarian ordered a mushroom and tomato risotto, when the dish came to the table it turned out to be a fish risotto, which was on the menu as a starter. After the first mouthful she realised the mistake, on complaining to our waitress said she would leave the dish on the table and check with the kitchen. The members of staff were very apologetic about the mistake, a different member of staff each time, and a correct dish was cooked eventually. We were offered free win in recompense and a free after dinner drink for the lady in question, however at that stage all we wanted to do was get out of the place. We called for the bill, when it eventually came it was the wrong one, for one hundred pounds more than ours. On leaving the restaurant the front of house manager became very argumentative when one of our party pointed out that had the dish been served to someone with an allergy to fish the results could have been far worse. Needless to say that was our last visit.

It may be of interest to know that Thrales Restaurant is now providing a two course lunch between Wednesdays and Fridays for £6.50 per head. I have been there a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed the food. At the moment it is one of the best kept secrets in Lichfield - value for money, quality food, knowledgeable staff - just don't tell anyone else!
