Three Coqs Brasserie

Above Clifton Down Shopping Centre, Whiteladies Road, Bristol, BS8 2PH

Three Coqs Brasserie is just a stone's throw away from the Clifton Down train station and shopping centre. The restaurant provides an informal and relaxed ambiance to enjoy a hearty meal. The ingredients are locally sourced from the nearby farms and shores, whilst the execution of modern British recipes, is top notch. The menu takes a new approach and is not divided into the usual courses, rather it's a list of favourites from the cuisine. Expect to see the likes of lightly pickled octopus with a saffron and chilli dressing, baked duck egg with blue cheese and walnuts, and roasted wood pigeon with puy lentils, sweet peppers and beetroot. Three Coqs Brasserie is one of the first restaurants to serve only natural and biodynamic wines.

REVIEWS OF Three Coqs Brasserie

We had a fantastic dinner here last week. The food was amazing as the other review mentioned. We did the tapas option and chose a whole range of dishes to share - mussels in cider, beautiful salt cod fish cake and meat platter. The list goes on! Just amazing - food full of interesting flavours and herbs. Every mouthful was really interesting and make you really savour what you were eating. Lovely blackcurrant sorbet and a Cornish cheese to finish - perfect! Fabulous staff - friendly, informative but really cool and knew when to leave you alone. Lovely room - bright and airy and good people watching whilst sitting near the window. Good prices. Generally big thumbs up!

Another Cool new eatery in Bristol! Looking for a place for something scrumptious on an early evening last week, we stumbled across this funny named restaurant. After locating its entrance round the side and up some strange steps we walked in and wow! What I remember as being a very uninspiring building has been transformed into a really attractive contemporary dining room with full height glass windows overlooking white ladies road and the entire goings on below. After deciding to opt for a seat at the bar - well not really a bar so much as a viewing area to watch all that was going on in the kitchen we settled in for some of the bio dynamic wines they have. Though not yet convinced myself on the whole ‘grown in time with the moon with no chemicals’ it certainly tasted great and the claim to have no ill effects in the morning seemed to be true - well we did only have one bottle so maybe we need to try more next time!

Food selection is a little different, as we were advised that it’s not necessarily the traditional starter and main type of affair. If you prefer, the idea is more like a tapas where different dishes can be shared - have to say as a foodie myself and always wanting to try what’s on my partners plate as well as my own, the idea was perfect. The fresh asparagus with hollandaise and the ham hock terrine were certainly a hit to get us started. Soon followed, a warm salad of slow roasted pork and a lamb rump served with tomatoes and roasted peppers and the amazing dauphinoise potatoes. After a long break soaking up the atmosphere and watching all that was going on in the busy kitchen and street below we decided we could squeeze a piece of cheese or two and how good were they - very rich but beautiful. All in all, we had a very good night and it was well worth a visit. Thank you Three Coqs and we will certainly be back.
