Your Reviews of Three Hares Country Inn, The

Lester Fontayne (4 May 2008)

What should have been a pleasant evening there was spoilt by the service. We couldn’t fault the food really as the starters of risotto and black pudding were excellent. The fish pie main got a ‘thumbs up’ and the lamb casserole was fine, but nothing to write home about. I thought the sides were particularly poor value for money. We waited a long time between courses and decided not to stay for desserts. Overall, the food was nice but the service was disappointing.

Sarah (26 May 2006)

My family and I called in to this pub on spec last Friday night. We were very impressed initially with the beautiful decor and attentive, polite and professional service. We had our two young boys (four and seven) with us and they were treated like grown ups - so much more refreshing and encouraging of good behaviour than most child friendly places.

The Menu was simple yet everything looked delicious - and it was. My husband ordered the soup which I sampled and loved (and don't even like mushroom soup normally!), I had the chicken liver parfait which could have done with more bread accompaniment but which was provided on request.

The children had a combination of starters as main courses however young George was offered sausages and French fries which were of a far superior standard to normal pub grub.

For main course I had the Whitby fish and my husband had steak - although the latter was more like a Sunday joint and he didn't even attempt to manage his vegetables!

We were delighted with everything about our meal and have definitely found a little jewel in the Three Hares. Will certainly be returning very soon.
