Thyme Café, from Richard and Victoria Smith the owners of Artisan and Catch also in Sheffield, is a lively, rustic and incredibly popular restaurant/cafe situated in the heart of Sheffield's universities and hospitals. Whether you want a coffee and some cake, a speedy lunch or a relaxing evening with three courses and a bottle of wine, Thyme Cafe should always please with its decent quality of interesting food and relaxed ambience.

A friend told me about this place; it took me an hour to get there but boy it was worth it! The food is to die for, I had beef stew with dumplings, pure comfort food, don’t be put off by the basics of the menu, the food is classic with a twist, just sublime. The staff are really friendly, as there was so much to choose from on the menu we needed some help, the lady staff member assisted us for about ten minutes with our choice and it didn’t disappoint. Well worth the journey any day of the week, just a note this place gets packed, people queue and they keep on coming for a table, which in itself speaks volumes.

The food was sublime - large portions and well executed. The beef was cooked to perfection and so were the vegetables. I would recommend Thyme Cafe as it is a great place to eat. It's perfect for children and the members of staff were so accommodating and very pleasant.
