Richard Hills started learning Japanese and initially thought he would only give it a couple of months. Japanese fascinating and beguiling culture and charming, warm and enthusiastic people soon helped him over the hardest part of learning the language, and two years later he went to Japan where he experienced the trip of a lifetime. With this inspiration he turned the launderette below his small flat in Soho and the whole building to what has now become Tokyo Diner. The venue has been serving authentic cuisine ever since its opening in 1992.

Slices of best chunk beef and onion, braised in a lightly sweet Japanese sauce and served on top of a donburi bowl of rice, chicken katsu curry, hoso maki set - consisting of salmon, cucumber and pickled radish served with a Wasabi and Gari are some popular choices. Zesty options such as broccoli ni bitashi, or salmon teriyaki could entice every palate.
