Tors Restaurant at The Two Bridges Hotel
Dartmoor, Princetown, Two Bridges, PL20 6SW
Travellers on Dartmoor have been finding solace in the Two Bridges since the 18th century. The Moor being the place it can be it is hardly surprising that in the Tor Restaurant they take no prisoners, gastronomically speaking. Sturdy and robust, the dishes are designed to restore after a hard day. Start with pan-fried local pigeon set on a black pudding mash topped with a poached quail's egg and finished with a raspberry vinaigrette. Chicken supreme filled with a truffle mousse and poached, presented with a mange tout puree, trio of taglione and trumpet noir mushrooms is one of the lighter mains. There is a range of equally bracing desserts and yet again that wonderful West Country cheese board raises its tempting head.Travellers on Dartmoor have been finding solace in the Two Bridges since the 18th century. REVIEWS OF Tors Restaurant at The Two Bridges Hotel
Debbie Caddey (19 July 2009)
We visited last month and it was a quick stop off for lunch and we ended up staying 2 hours. It was so relaxing sitting outside - lovely pine tables and cream umbrellas overlooking the front lawns. I had the salmon with salad and my friend had the Two Bridges Ploughman's which was superb with homemade bread and pickle. We both had Eton mess with the chefs homemade honeycomb ice cream. We will go back for sure, perhaps for dinner next time.
Mrs Davies (8 August 2007)
A disgrace: The lady on the phone promised us a high standard double, we got a poor standard twin, with cigarette ash around the beds, light bulbs were not working and the last guest’s deposits were not cleared. The lounge was tatty with sofa fabrics torn and foul smelling. The food was simply appalling, and we left half way through the meal after discovering mould on the table cloth. What a shame, we do remember the hotel fondly from years ago, what has happened?
