Troubadour, The Description

The Troubadour is a proper café, the last 1950s coffee house in Earl's Court with a proud history as a low temperature centre of courtesy, peace and artistic energy. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2004, and could be described as truly different in a wonderfully unique way.

One review called them "The best eatery West of Big Ben", and they are pretty proud of their menu, which is served from 9am until 11pm 7 days a week. They offer great breakfasts including the full house - two eggs, sausage, bacon, grilled tomato and toast - or Lady Muck's - smoked salmon and two eggs on a muffin - and were named by the Independent newspaper as one of the top places to have breakfast in the UK. For lunch or dinner their Brompton burger is the best seller with an 8oz burger, salad and fries while there are excellent vegetarian options such as vegetable lasagne, served with a mixed salad, or the great rabbit festival salad, which would make any rabbit envious.

Downstairs is the Club which Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon all played in the 1960s. To-day they still have a full programme of live music, poetry and comedy and recently have hosted artists such as Jamie T, Davy Graham, Albert Lee and Ian Seigal. The Club is also available for private parties up to 120 people.

Next door, they are soon to open a wine bar and shop. And just to make sure they had enough to do they also kitted out the wonderfully light room above as an art gallery, which is available for exhibitions and private room hire for any occasion.
