Twelve Restaurant

Marsh mill village, Thornton Cleveleys, nr Blackpool, FY5 4JZ

A trendy mix of industrial elements and modern glamour contribute to the 'chicness' of this contemporary British restaurant, located under the historic Marsh Windmill in Lancashire. With two AA rosettes and a Michelin Bib Gourmand under their smooth belt, and nearly eight years of experience in satisfying their patrons, Twelve Restaurant and Lounge Bar are well on their way to achieving iconic status at Thornton Cleveleys. From the a la carte, you could choose the garden pea soup with parmesan ice cream for starters before moving on to the wild seabass with crushed potatoes, crab, caper and lemon dressing, ending with the baked Alaska and tuile biscuit and raspberry ripple ice cream. The sleek lounge bar offers sandwiches, salads and typical hot food like beer battered fish with chips and tartar sauce.

REVIEWS OF Twelve Restaurant

Ian H (16 January 2011)

Without a doubt, an award winning restaurant with excellent food, great staff and an atmosphere that is warm, welcoming and makes you want to go again and again. As someone who is wheat intolerant the staff bent over backwards to mark the menu with the dishes that contained wheat and the chefs did everything to replace the ingredients without wheat or cook a dish to my liking! Even the cheese and biscuits were replaced with oatcakes and spelt biscuits. I can’t thank them enough for making another great night at twelve! Absolutely five stars!

Andy (7 October 2008)

I have to admit that I was really looking forward to visiting this place after reading several reviews about it. However, I can only assume that we went to a completely different restaurant. Of course we didn’t, but they seemed to have got everything wrong. The menu was quite uninspirational, and neither my partner nor I were tempted to have a starter, and headed for the main course. Unfortunately on asking for my lamb pink and my partner’s to be well done; it was interesting to note that the waiter did not hesitate in setting down the plates, probably because both had been served pink. The meals were bland, the pea puree a murky green, and tasteless, which indicated the peas used were tinned as opposed to fresh, or even freshly frozen. I would have liked to comment on the desserts, however, twenty-five minutes after our main plates were cleared, and the dessert menu handed to us, our orders were still not taken, and we left.

While the décor, and the bar area were lovely, the service in the restaurant left a lot to be desired. The two waiters were given the task of serving forty covers. Interestingly, there was a restaurant manager whose only assistance to the waiters was to actually place the meals they carried out onto the diner's tables. In all honesty, by my personal standards, the ingredients were substandard for the stature, which this restaurant holds in the community.
