Byron Restaurant

As befits an elegant country house in the vicinity of Newmarket there are strong horseracing associations and that champion of the turf, Lord Halifax, owned the house until 1976. Byron, whose half-sister lived here, is said to have written some of the finest of his verses beneath the cooling shade of a large (but now felled) beech tree in the garden.
