The name may sound quirky for a rural setting such as this, but once inside you could be forgiven for thinking that you're caught in a time warp. The interior at The Blue Strawberry Bistrot is bedecked with old etchings and prints on the walls, antique books and ornaments and open fires.

The menus change regularly and the cooking is a dedication to French techniques; whether it's potted duck liver pâté and venison steak presented on weekdays at dinnertime, or the prawns in classic Marie Rose sauce, and Blue Strawberry shepherd's pie with shredded braised shank of lamb topped with creamy mash for lunch with the family on a Sunday. The dessert selection is also reassuring with favourites such as meringue pavlova, profiteroles and rhubarb and apple pie.
