Weaving was a major occupation in Diss right from the 12th century with several guilds being set up which have interesting ups and downs that could merit a closer study of their history. Today however, Weaver's would refer to the remarkable restaurant and bar created by the talented William Bavin which now occupies pride of place on Market Hill and it's a well known spot for those wishing to dine on simple but tasty English fare, as well as those who yearn for more complex flavours.

The menu is infused with the rich bounty of the Norfolk Coast so expect to find starters of mussels tossed with garlic butter and finely chopped shallots finished with Chardonnay and cream followed by seared strips of Scottish salmon over asparagus and pea risotto with a beurre blanc sauce. End with the banana and toffee trifle with custard, Madeira cake and whipped cream and there are more than 120 bins in the wine list at Weaver's featuring most of the world's wine producing areas.

Located in the historic market town of Attleborough, Holly's at Sherbourne House in Norwich Road is an idyllic venue for an enjoyable meal. Dating back to 1740, the privately run country house hotel is ideally placed to explore places of interest in the Breckland area. 

The AA Rosette winning restaurant serves a wide variety of freshly cooked local produce. Head chef Phil Woodcock's menu reflects seasonal availability featuring such dishes as cream of celeriac, pear and toasted almond soup, smoked salmon with beetroot and vodka crème frâiche and roast breast of turkey with all the trimmings. Guests could also consider game terrine wrapped in streaky bacon, fillet of lemon sole served with creamed leeks or slow-cooked shin of beef with roasted root vegetables. It would indeed be tempting to round off with apple and mincemeat crumble tart served with plum butter or vanilla croissant bread and butter pudding with whisky and ginger ice cream. A concise wine list delivers what many would consider essential to the meal.
