Cafe Cru Restaurant
The Imperial Hotel, North Drive, Great Yarmouth, NR30 1EQ [Map]
Like a fading beauty stepping out of a salon transformed, after a recent refurbishment, Café Cru has just emerged, rejuvenated and looking more attractive than ever, with not only a new look, but a change of name as well. This stylish and warm restaurant is part of the family run Imperial Hotel in Great Yarmouth.
The management has taken advantage of this opportunity to introduce new dishes to the modern British menu. Their friendly service and commitment to quality, however, have remained unchanged. The style could be described as thoroughly up to date and yet the ambience is certainly still traditional. You will be treated imperially with silver service and food flambéed at your table, all of which seems to put the Great back into Britain.
At lunchtime, you could savour such delights as pan-fried lambs' liver with grilled bacon, baked tomato and onion gravy or locally caught longshore cod, hand cut chips and mushy peas. Expect to find country pâté served with plum chutney, baby gherkins and toasted brioche, and confit of Suffolk duckling, on a separate carte that features classics. You could start the weekend by selecting from their special Friday fish menu, which offers two courses and a glass of wine, all for a fixed price.
Baked ginger and apple pudding or citrus pancakes flambéed at your table are a great way to round off a meal. They also have an impressive selection of wines from various parts of the world, and their knowledgeable staff would be delighted to make recommendations that add a touch of class to your meal at Café Cru.
