The King's Arms
Westgate Street, Blakeney, NR25 7NQ [Map]
The King's Arms is legendary in Blakeney, where it has served food and drink for centuries in the charming building, and it continues to uphold its tradition with aplomb. If you're looking for some place to stop for the night, then they have comfy and well appointed rooms, but if you're hungry or thirsty, then they take the best possible care of your needs. True to its name, there's a superb royal crest that can be seen on the south wall of the building, and guests are treated to some of the best seafood and fish that can be procured on the Norfolk coast.
Simple but enduring British fare is the key to the menu there and diners can enjoy the locally gathered mussels in a rich garlic cream sauce with a crusty roll, followed by braised tender lamb shank on creamy dauphinoise potatoes with rosemary and red wine sauce. Sandwiches and ploughman's lunches can be found on the bar menu, perfect to satisfy lunchtime cravings, and sound local beers are well kept, with guests beers also available.
