One could commence with the samosas of ham, black pudding and apple with a lentil dressing and progress comfortably to the fillet of cod with a parsley cream sauce, trying to forget that in all likelihood it never swam in British territorial waters, ending up with a poached pear and ginger ice cream.

A delightful Tudor Manor House in which good order and comfort are paramount. Try the roulade of salmon, salmon parfait rolled in smoked salmon and served with a sauce verte. Ye Olde Bell and Steelyard

Ye Olde Bell and Steelyard is the oldest pub in Woodbridge, and a distinctive 16th century inn serving up excellent ales and traditional English fare. With one of the two remaining steelyards in England - the word is derived from German for a weighbridge, used to ensure that wagon weights of barley and rye did not exceed 3 tonnes - the pub has won the Cask Marque award.
